Did you know something as simple as changing your diet can help take care of several skin conditions including eczema?
Since she was a young baby, Maya suffered a severe form of eczema. Her first flare-up occurred soon after her first birthday and left her entire body covered in big, scarlet scaly spots. Her mother resorted to the usual treatment for eczema by doctors in the form of steroid creams. On the doctor’s recommendation, she replaced cow’s milk with goat’s milk and found that the treatment was working well and Maya recovered rather quickly.
But the change lasted only a short while. Maya soon developed chronic colds that were a side effect of the steroid cream. These strong medication can penetrate through the skin and hamper the cells ability to build immunity against pathogens. Her mother quickly realized that the creams were only hiding an underlying problem that was not being treated at its root.
When she turned 4, the eczema returned. Seeing how the steroids worked on her the first time around, her mother opted for an alternative way of treating the condition through naturopathy. Gluten, refined sugars and milk were completely eliminated from her diet and some homeopathic treatment was also introduced. In six months, her skin cleared up for most part leaving only small spots on her arms.
When she turned 7, the eczema suddenly came back again with a vengeance but diagnosis of the condition this time around found that she also had candida and parasites. Her mother spent days researching for possible natural solutions and in a desperate attempt to make her daughter feel well again, she turned to her diet once again. This time around, apart from gluten, sugars and milk, meat and eggs were also removed from her diet. A diet based on cooked grains, steamed vegetables and natural oils like coconut and olive oil, fish and fruits proved to work well for her. Maya lost weight quickly owing to her gut’s inability to absorb nutrients and her mother almost put her back on her medication because she feared for her life.
