Your body's cells are growing uncontrollably, ignoring genetic signals to stop. Natural and medical treatments for cancer may stop that growth.
Cancer conjures images of hair loss and nausea but natural cures ease the impact.
First described by the ancient Egyptians, cancer’s crab-shaped invasion force can appear anywhere in the body. Of all cancers seen in humans, 5 to 10 percent are completely hereditary. The other 90 to 95 percent result from combined environmental and hereditary causes. According to the National Cancer Institute, there are over 100 types of cancer and each is named for the body region the disease springs from. One of the most deadly, colon cancer, killed over 51,000 men and women during 2010, but screenings can catch cancer early enough that treatment can be easier and more successful. The rise in cancer awareness has made cancer insurance policies popular, but you must apply before receiving a cancer diagnosis, and you must be HIV or AIDS-free to enroll.
Greater screenings due to greater cancer awareness can result in early colon cancer treatment. Your doctor, using a colonoscope, will surgically remove any small polyps. Doctors divide colon cancers into stages that describe how far the cancer has grown. At stage 0, the cancer is still limited to the colon’s inner lining and can be removed through a colonoscope. The doctor can remove a small piece of the colon, performing a partial colectomy, too. At stage I, the cancerous polyp has grown into the colon wall. The doctor can still remove the polyp and the spreading cancerous cells through the colonoscope. By stage II, the cancer is growing through the colon wall and may be working on surrounding tissues, but it hasn’t touched the lymph nodes. From this stage onward, you doctor may suggest chemo or radiation therapy in addition to surgery. Where surgery and radiation therapy kills cancer cells at a particular location, chemotherapy treats the whole body. Doctors use chemotherapy when cancer cells may still be present or may have spread or metastasized. Chemotherapy can also control tumor growth when a cure isn’t possible, shrink tumors and ease symptoms. Since chemotherapy works throughout the body, it also damages cells in bone marrow, hair follicles and cells in the mouth and digestive tract. Some damage may be permanent, so doctors may prescribe protective medications. Additionally, it can impact focus and concentration, change your skin and fingernails, and lead to nerve and muscle problems. With so many side effects, you might want a gentler colon cancer treatment.
Studies have shown curcumin, a compound found in turmeric, kills cancer cells and suppresses new cancerous growths. In 2007, an American study revealed that adding consuming turmeric can make chemotherapy for colon cancer more effective, as reported by Natural News. Curcumin seems to work best against stomach and bowel cancers, skin cancer and breast cancer and may also ease arthritic pain. Luckily, curcumin-bearing turmeric is one of the natural cancer cures that is also a major spice in curry, so it is easy to consume.
Otto Warburg, a 1931 Nobel Prize winner, theorized that oxygen deprivation, which makes the body too acidic, causes cancer. His discovering that cancer cells do not survive a highly oxygenated environment has led to the pressurized oxygen therapy that uses a hyperbaric chamber. Since this is one of the natural cures for cancer used with chemotherapy, more hospitals provide hyperbaric chambers to their cancer patients and some cancer insurance policies may cover the treatments. Look out for this when selecting natural and medical treatments for cancer.
In many instances, the effects of medical cancer treatments linger long after treatment has ended. Constipation, chronic fatigue syndrome, candida and depression can make the aftermath challenging. Some people find natural cures for cancer effective and easier to tolerate. Gerson Therapy, created by Dr. Max Gerson more than 90 years ago, claims to activate the body’s self-healing mechanisms. Gerson recommends a diet of raw juices, organic plant-based meals and beef liver with natural supplements and coffee enemas. The diet is low in fats, sodium and protein, but rich with minerals, vitamins and enzymes. While the daily meal plan also includes drinking 13 glasses of raw juice and limiting snacks to organic fruits, it also suggests eating raw beef liver. Beef liver’s B12 contribution may not make eating it raw easier. You’ll need a two-step or a masticating juicer because you’ll need to drink fresh vegetables daily. Juicing is said to preserve nutrients if you avoid commercial juicers that heat their contents, destroying many nutrients. Gerson therapy holds that coffee enemas remove toxins and suggests up to five per day to prevent toxin overload in the liver. Supplements include Vitamin B12, thyroid hormone, potassium, pancreatic enzymes and Lugol’s solution, a blend of iodine and potassium iodide in alcohol or water. Considering both natural and medical treatments for cancer is important for many patients.
Proteolytic enzyme therapy utilizes discoveries about the nervous system to treat cancers. The autonomic side handles processes like “digest” and the sympathetic side deals with events. In 1981, A doctor named Nicholas J. Gonzalez centered his work on balancing these two sides of the nervous system, as researchers believed that imbalances between the two might trigger cancer. After separating cancer patients into two groups, he prescribed plant-based diets without animal protein for people with pancreatic, colon, prostate and lung tumors. He prescribed high-fat, high-animal protein diets for people with immune or blood based tumors, such as lymphomas, leukemias or mylomas. In addition to these dietary changes, the patients consumed proteolytic enzymes, 5 grams three times daily, between meals. This is one of the natural cancer cures that has fewer side effects, freeing the body to focus on healing.
